Nick Greed is a UK based DJ blending Deep & Minimal House, big beat, breakbeat, acid house, classic rave, and underground electronic Sounds into high energy sets shaped by the UK’s rave heritage. With roots in the Home Counties Rave & Radio scenes, his style mixes nostalgia with modern club power, driven by skatepark culture, pirate radio influence, and decades of underground sounds to call upon. Streaming on Mixcloud and YouTube Live, Nick delivers long form genre sessions, deep cut selections, and visually immersive livestreams that connect with a growing global audience. My story

Music has been part of my life since birth as my dad was a musician/Vocalist/producer in numerous rock bands during 60s/70s. My first gig experience was attending the inaugural Knebworth festival in 1974 as a toddler (I don’t remember any of it), my last was seeing the chemical brothers in Leeds during their last tour – Amazing!.

My first steps into DJing began in 1988 using a basic speed variable Tandy turntable, a realistic mixer & a Hi-fi deck with no speed control to play Electro albums; I didn’t get anywhere until 1990 after I formed a friendship with a Skater at the local skatepark who shared tapes of a pirate radio playing pure underground dance tracks; something switched inside & after attending a few parties I started buying these hypnotic records and giving the decks another bash. After 3 months of intense practise, I mastered the art of beat matching well enough to secure a gig at the local Rave – ‘Liberty’ bought a pair of technics & didn’t look back… playing parties big & small all over home counties and was approached to play on a new local Pirate station ‘Impact’ as my skills evolved.

Impact Radio blew up in 1992 and allowed us to host our own events and our listeners happy with the latest dance tracks until mid-noughties. We had a massive run without any serious DTI mishaps (they Tried!! LOL) and some amazing adventures keeping things ‘Live & direct’ with archives dating back to 92 on Mixcloud & my Youtube channel.

I do miss hanging out with the original team ... Pick-up (RIP), The Menace, Acid Andy plus the many guest DJs that helped keep the vibe alive & making MC Five alive do his half speed lyrical flows till he got bored with me.

The skater who first handed me those life-changing pirate radio tapes eventually caught the DJ bug himself and joined the Impact roster, developing his own distinctive style along the way. That skater was 'Jeff Big Drum'. The driving force behind Impact FM was 'Dominique' names very familiar to GTP listeners...

Influences

As a youth my early influences were Ska, the unworldly electronic sounds of Kraftwerk & Jean Michel Jarre that influenced the electro, Hip Hop/RAP whilst tearing around the local skatepark on my BMX or spinning on my back on some lino. I found some of the early house tunes repetitive at first but by late 80's they were my go to noise... Then Rave happened & I never looked back.

The sound

I am heavily armed with an eclectic music collection spanning over four decades and possess the ability to alter mixing Style dependent on the genre on the platter.

Catch me alternate Saturday nights 8 till 11pm, as I blend old and new genres to create an original sound laced with classic dance tracks and forgotten memories. 100% Essential Listening for the dance connoisseurs and old heads. 😊
